Goodtimes

So, yesterday was my friend Caitlin’s birthday. She recently broke up with her boyfriend of 2 years (her choice, not his) and was a bit down. She was threatening to just stay home on her birthday and I said “Oh HELL no!”

So, we went out, and I can’t even tell you how much fun we had.

First, we went to dinner at a little Thai restaurant that neither of us had been to. Oh my god, it was so good. Two thumbs so far up, my hands hurt a little thinking about it.

Then, we went to one of my favorite bars on the island. It has reasonably priced drinks and a Wii. She had never played Wii Bowling, so I taught her how, and before we knew it, a couple of guys decided to join it. As soon as they heard it was her birthday, they were so cute and made a point to wish her a happy birthday every few minutes. I thought that was pretty awesome. But, around 9ish, a band came in and started to set up, and it was obvious that the under 18 punk rock crowd was going to take over. So, after breif deliberation, we decided to close our tab and go to a pizza place that I had heard did acoustic music on friday nights.

Yeah, I think we’re gonna go back there every friday for the rest of eternity. It was SO MUCH FUN.

As soon as I walked in the door, this guy that I had been flirting with at the bank saw me and greeted me with a bear hug and “Hey! You made it! I’m so glad!” Soon thereafter I noticed a wedding band on his finger, but thats ok because he’s probably the hottest man alive, and thus completely out of my league. Lol. But, once I got in the door, a lady I always help at the bank was sitting at a table and grinned so big I thought her face was going to break. We chatted for a minute, and I mentioned Caitlins birthday. A big round of Happy Birthday’s happened, and before we knew it we were surrounded by new friends.

So, the music starts, and I hate to say it, but it was better than a lot of the shows I went to in Austin. Hot Guy from the bank started with a solo set, and DAMN he’s talented. Near the end of his set, Mary (lady from the bank) made sure that he made a big announcement about Caitlins birthday, and I think she finally forgave me for telling everyone that it was her day. A couple of guys bought her beers, and I’ll just say that we were surrounded with cute boys all night long. A trio played after Hot Guy, and they pretty much rocked the house. Hot Guy made me promise not to leave until after his next set, so we ended up staying until almost midnight, having a great time. I had to be at work at 10 this morning, so we finally went home, but I don’t think I’ve had such a great time in a long long time. Caitlin kept telling me how great her night was, and I am SO GLAD that I was able to take her out and show her cute boys and good music.

Anyways, that’s about the extent of my story. Of course I forgot my camera, but it’s ok because I probably would have only taken picture of Hot Guy and then been an obvious idiot. Lol. I will mention though that while the trio was playing, he sat next to me and we chatted for a long time about music and politics and whatnot. I think that I made a new friend! YAY. Next time he comes into the bank, I’ll have to be sure to get his number.

Woot woot! Goodtimes! It was totally worth staying up past my bedtime for. ::giggle::

On being 25

Sometimes, being 25 is harder than I expected. The last few days have been really hard for me, but before I get all the comments about how I’ll get through it… I know I will. My job is tough right now, but I really do see a future in it. I may have to accept help from my family for the time being to get through, but it’ll be ok.

So, for months now, we’ve been planning on my mom selling my bags as consignment at her store. Today, she and my dad told me that rather than doing consignment, she’s going to pay me for them right from the beginning. I tried to tell them no, but neither she nor my dad will hear it. They want to treat the bags like a product from any other vendor initially, and if they don’t sell, so what? My dad had already offered to lend me some money to get through, but I had told him no. So, now, they can help me but I’m not taking a handout.

Everyone wins.

And now? For some pictures for you. These were all taken about a 5 minute bike ride from my house. My roomie found this spot and made me go back with him. Unfortunately, it was overcast, so I’m not really happy with the color ranges, but still… I love these shots.

I can’t decide which is my favorite. This one, or this one:

So, when I get all freaked out about my money problems, I have to remind myself that I live in the most beautiful place in the world. These shots are from the side of the island that faces the main land, we call it the sound. I moved to TX 3 years ago, thinking that my life would be better if I was in a place with lots of jobs to choose from. Well, it WAS good, but all I wanted to be was back here. Now I’m back and while life isn’t perfect, I’m where I want to be. Now, it’s just a matter of getting the nuts and bolts to work together.
